Twisty Tides...

This is the next in the Twisty Town series - I don't know why, but I got the urge to include a twisty boat this time - I haven't been near the ocean since Easter, far less seen any boats, but this scene came to me in work the other day (during a tea break, obviously!) so I doodled it onto a post-it note and then sketched it up when I got home that day.

Given the total lack of anything resembling a summer here this year, it's very possible that it's my subconscious wishing I was somewhere sunny and blue-skied beside the sea!

Twisty Tides

This is my submission for Paint Party Friday which by the way is becoming less like a small gathering and more like a full on festival of wonderful artwork! And I'd like to give a special mention and thank you to  Hybrid J for giving me some very helpful tips on her photography techniques so that I can get better shots of my work!

Oh, a wee update on the crackle glaze - I've applied it to each of these wee canvasses after photographing them (in case the glaze is too reflective) and have had varying degrees of success. Mostly you can't see any cracks at all but I tried adding a thicker layer and this one actually ended up looking a bit cracked (although I'm now worried folk at the style fair won't realise it is deliberate and just think that I've had these lying around so long they've gone cracked with age!!)

  5. The Twisty art if funky and fun and I love the closeup of the boat, like it's waiting to be taken into the high seas for an adventure of some sort! The colors remind me of the blue waters of St. Maarten. I'd love to get back there again on another cruise!

I'd like to try that crackle glaze you've been writing about. Reminds me of the shattered nail polish...which is so cool!!

Happy PPF and have a great weekend, amiga!! :)

  14. Wow..this is so beautiful!! Fantastic! The first thing it made me think of was beautiful smooth decorative-art-tiles...I think it would be a wonderful as a art-tile on the wall..do you know what I mean? It looks like a gorgeous print to be transferred onto a decorative tile motif piece.( I have seen some artist have their work on tiles)..just fabulous...it almost looks porcelain to me...wonderful energy to this piece! Shine on!!
And thankyou for your fab sharings and words!
