Art Every Day Month - Day 5

'Winter Icing' - acrylic pointillism 5x5 inches

No dogs today.  Instead I'm posting the second of the pointillist landscapes on small 5 x 5 inch canvasses for the Christmas Exhibition. The first one I did I posted back here and it was inspired by the start of autumn with the fields of hay all rolled into haybales for the long winter ahead.

This one despicts winter. Although I used two different photographs from Paint My Photo for reference of light and shade and colours for each painting, the resulting landscapes are imaginary - I wanted them to have a whimsical feel so made the land curve up into a very rounded hillside rather than show it as it actually was.

'Winter Icing' & 'The End of the Summer'
I'm working on a summer one now which is nearly finished then it's on to spring and that'll be my four submissions for the exhibition (the requirement of which is that artists submit small paintings no bigger than 12 x 12 inches.

This is my submission to AEDM Day 5.

  6. Lovely cool colours and I really like the composition, I like the way you have rounded the hillside, I often do the same thing, it does add a whimsical feel, I remember Caithness as being fairly flat with unusual slate walls which I haven't seen anywhere else, I think they would be tricky to paint and your fence works much better. Looking forward to your next seasonal offering! :)
