Monty the Cockerpoo - a pet portrait

Things that happened this week:

I finished Monty's portrait.  Here it is:

'Monty' a cockerpoo - acrylic on 5x5 inch box canvas

I really enjoyed doing this portrait - funny enough I found painting curly black fur easier than short pale fur and the shadows on his tongue were a real challenge but I'm pleased with how it turned out.

I did start to do another time lapse of this painting in progress until day 2 when I tried to start the camera without the aid of S who had gone to work and due to technical difficulties (i.e me not realising I had to switch on the remote control sensor as well as the camera) I couldn't get it to work so had to go on painting without it! Hey ho, I'll try again with the next one.

Speaking of which, next up is the camera shy Scooby, friend of Scrappy whose portrait I did a few weeks ago. Scooby's person was finally able to capture him on camera and so I'll be starting his portrait later this week. I'm also very pleased to report that I currently have another 4 pet portraits lined up once Scooby is finished including of course, the winner of my give away which I announced on Monday.

Sandra nominated me to take part in a blog hop where I have to answer specific questions on all things art and then nominate three other art bloggers to do the same. The questions are:

1. What am I working on?
2. How does my work differ from others in my genre?
3. Why do I create what I do?
4. How does my creative process work?

These blog hops happen on a Monday so please do pop back next Monday if you'd like to read my answers to these questions and to find out who I've nominated to keep the blog hop going.

I may have mentioned once or fifty times that I am a big fan of Paint My Photo as a reference site for artists looking for specific animals, places, people, flowers, whatever to paint. Well, earlier this year one of the members, Cheryl, mentioned that she was putting together a calendar for the BSPCA (Bahrain) and asked for submissions of animal art that folk had painted using photos from the website. Cheryl has been hard at work putting together a really wonderful calendar for 2015 made up entirely of animal art and the proceeds will go to help the rescue animals at the BSPCA where she volunteers. I'm delighted that my little rabbit painting is included in the calendar together with other very lovely animal art. It'll be going on sale in a couple of weeks so I'll add a link if anyone would like to purchase one.

Oh, and the exciting news that I'm bursting to share with you? I've got to sit on it until the END of September - gah!!

I'm linking with Paint Party Friday and will look forward to visiting as many folk as I can to see what everyone has been up to this week.
