Ice and Fire...

Ice and Fire - mini canvas 2x2 inches in wooden box frame

So this will be the last blog post of 2015. Tomorrow is my last day in my part time job until the new year and I plan to spend the holidays getting some of the many ideas in my head down on to canvas. I have so many ideas right now but so far they are all still in my head.

The problem is I discovered all 6 series of Private Practice on Sky Box Sets. I used to love this show and watched the first three seasons on TV but then for some reason it never came back on. So now I'm binge watching seasons 4 through to 6 when I should really be painting. I am having to tear myself away from the offices of the world's most beautiful doctors (male and female alike!) to don my coveralls and get the paint out.

I did find time between episodes to paint this mini canvas. Inspired by the northern lights photos S took when we were in Iceland. I'm working on a couple of larger canvasses at the moment which are getting there, slowly.

I posted this on my Facebook and Instagram accounts last week and I'm very happy to say that it has already been sold.

That's it really, I have no other news. I am feeling particularly un-Christmas-y this year - the weather is unseasonably mild, I haven't yet managed to watch even one Christmas movie and the cheesy Christmas tunes haven't worked their magic on me but even so, I'm looking forward to having a couple of weeks at home with S with twinkly lights, mulled wine and log fire roaring, with or without the snow outside. I'm sure once we watch Polar Express (which is our Christmas Eve tradition) I'll be feeling festive!

Wishing you all a very happy festive season and a peaceful new year. xx

  3. Wow, those northern lights are just amazing! I so love the colours, and your mini-canvas is cute and beautiful at the same time. You remind me that I used to love watching Private Practice but then we moved to Australia and I never saw it again. Might have to search for that series here too ;-)
Have a wonderful and relaxing end of year and I'll see you in 2016! ♥

  4. what a gorgeous painting of the Northern lights Nic!! Up until the other day it has been unusually warm here and I have been thoroughly enjoying it! Doesn't bother me one bit to watch the romantic Christmas movies or listen to Christmas music or bake cookies with te window open a tad :) Wishing you and yours a beautiful holiday!

  5. This is just amazing. I do not celebrate Christmas. I do make a nice dinner and talk to all the family I have all around the country. This year I am making a manicotti dinner. Wishing a wonderful week.

  6. Ooh the TV can be so distracting can't it? My guilty pleasure is Desperate Housewives and Modern Family, lol! And I just LOVE Only Fools and Horses which are always on at Christmas! Without the TV I reckon I would be a lot more productive, but I am being more strict with myself this coming year! Your painting is gorgeous! I just love your Northern Light paintings. Can't wait to see what you do this year! :0)
